Blackpool’s LGBT triangle has a vast selection of venues to go to that you can relax in, have fun and be hassle free. Venues range from a bar to a night club all tailored for individual tastes but all share the same values in diversity and acceptance.
Here are just a few of them :
LuLu’s Lounge Bar
Lulu’s is at the heart of the Transgender community, Lindsey and her team are very welcoming and the bar area has a lovely relaxed and chill feel about it. This is the go to place after we initially meet at the Dragonfly ( guest house ) during the Chix weekends. Lulu’s is also a budget guest house, please see Hotel listings for more info. NB Opening times vary but typically opens Friday – Sunday and is a cash only bar.
The Flying Handbag is normally the go-to venue late at night, it has a modern feel, DJ, dance floor and host. Drinks are reasonable but not the cheapest. During the weekend it closes at 3am which is great if you want to carry on partying. Their website has loads of info and what’s on, and definitely worth a look .
The Dragonfly Guest house
The Dragonfly is where it all started, and where we start the Chix weekend off ! Scarlett is an amazing host and welcomes you with open arms. Although a guest house, The Dragon fly is fully licensed and most will pop in at some point for a tipple. During the Chix weekend’s most will meet there at around 8pm, then move on to Lulu’s, Scarlett normally lays on a chilli or curry for us all so were stoked up ready to party.
The Mardi Gras, although a guest house, is a vibrant LGBT venue offering probably the cheapest drinks in the area, a new refurbished stage and bar area, and always a great atmosphere. Definitely one to visit…
The Galleon Bar
The Galleon Bar, is a live music lovers dream, although not in the LGBT triangle, its a safe environment and always an amazing atmosphere.
Peek a Booze
Peek a Booze is just down the road from Lulu’s, it offers a basic bar and dance floor, Karaoke lovers will like this one. The décor is a bit dated but still a safe space to enjoy a drink and a sing a long. It does offer a reasonably priced food offering, including breakfast, always handy after a late night out.
